• 2022 Randonnee

The 2022 Randonnee took place on Sunday 1st May. We had 2500 participants register this year and we'd like to thank each of them for their generous donations both online and at the checkpoints. It's only through the donations and badge sales that we can maintain the Randonnee in its current form and more importantly support local charities. We will publish in due course the charities and amounts we have donated. We’d also like to thank the local community for their support, Businesses, Schools and Villages that let us use their premises and the Schools for providing the feed stations that are so enjoyed by the participants - thank you all - see you next year…. The Randonnee Team.

2022 IoW Randonnee

We're pleased to finally announce that the 2022 Randonnee will  take place on Sunday 1st May 2022, subject to there being no changes to the current UK Government or Cycling UK Covid guidance that may prevent the event taking place.

We will be making changes to the event this year in light of Covid guidelines, specifically to the checkpoints processes and the need for all participants to register this year...

A quick summary:
  • Registration for the 2022 event is open
  • We are going all in on advanced registration / e-ticket this year (no registration on the day will be available) - you will need to bring this with you on the day to be scanned at your first checkpoint- more details to follow
  • There will be up to 2500 entries available this year
  • We will be moving fully to a digital brevet card using our mobile app - more details to follow
  • There will be one way systems in place at the checkpoints
  • Unfortunately we will not have a checkpoint at Alverstone or be able to do registrations on the Ferries this year
  • Feed stations will be open subject to restrictions in force at that time and will implement their own Covid secure measures. We ask that all participants adhere to the requested procedures.
  • The event remains free to enter. When you register for your e-ticket, you will have the option of pre-purchasing your brooch/badge for collection on the day and also making a donation if you can - this helps maintain the event as free to enter, with any excesses donated to local charities after the event.

Thanks for your understanding of these changes, many brought about as a result of Covid where we are, so far as possible, attempting to run the event on a no-touch basis with minimal bunching of cyclists at checkpoints. We are passionate about holding the event this year and thank you for your patience as we navigate through this!

As with previous years....

The Randonnee follows the Round The Island (RTI) cycle routes in a clockwise direction and there will be a choice of 100km and 55km rides. The Event starts at 9am and finishes at 6pm.

If you'd like to take part in the 2022 Randonnee, please head to our Online Registration page to find out more.

Keep up-to-date with Randonnee news and the build up to the event by liking our facebook page or following us on Twitter.

The IoW Randonnee was established by the Wayfarers in 1985 and uniquely follows a route around the whole of the Isle of Wight taking minor roads and lanes where possible enabling the rider to see and enjoy the best of the Island's scenery.

* we decided to fix the route to the Clockwise direction in 2013. The main reason for this is to alleviate the congestion on the Cowes floating bridge as hundreds of participants coming off the Red Funnel head off to start Anti-Clockwise and straight onto the floating bridge.
